When significant hair loss is apparent, it may be difficult to come to terms that your hair is thinning as much as it is. For women, experiencing slight hair loss every day, the search to renew hair growth is at full force. One likely scenario for the cause of hair loss is brought on due to taking prescribed medication. Usually if this is the case, it is either temporary or the dosage of that particular medication will need to be adjusted. Temporary hair loss is normal for the majority of women. However, for others it can be a sign of female pattern baldness.

Some women may look for an alternative that is quick when it comes to hair growth. But are all procedures of hair restoration safe? Obviously there is a risk with any procedure but you may be wondering what type of risk may be associated with hair growth.

Hair restoration is the process of transplanting follicles, that are healthy, to encourage hair growth. It does take a long time to train the doctor, and all the staff, to have this procedure performed correctly, so he/she may do something different to restore your hair growth. Even with a doctor that is well versed in performing the following procedures, there can still be incidences that can possibly occur. For example:

- The Flap procedure is one that you may want to avoid for various reasons. If your hair loss is noticeable in the front or top of the head an alternative way to cover it may be needed, however this procedure is not it. Complications like the following have been well associated with the flap procedure.

- The formation of a knot where the flap has been twisted

- The flap may quite possibly become unproductive and no longer produce hair.

- Altered hairline

- Skin becomes loose on the forehead

- Hair growth behind the new front hair line is noticeable

- The flap made is not properly centered, nor is it set correctly

- The flap leaves behind a sizable scar

There are other procedures in which to choose from. These additional options include: Round or Square Grafts, Scalp Reduction, hair lifts, and Line or Linear Grafts.

There are several different procedures that can permanently scar your natural beauty. For best results weigh all your options before making a final decision and consult with more than one doctor. Have a family member or a friend that can go along for a second opinion. The final result is one that you need to live with for the rest of your life.
